care & SERVICES
Equality. Choice. Privacy
The Golden Oldies Community Care Project provides a unique high standard of care and support for
older people in London. Community is very important to us and we aim to encourage a healthy
lifestyle, promoting dignity and independent living in later years with our assistance.
We provide an all-inclusive and comprehensive day care service in which we cater to
the needs of the Afro-Caribbean community, as well as older people from various other backgrounds.
Our focus on friendship has strengthened the bonds in the community. We alleviate feelings
of isolation by providing help for our members with a wide range of stimulating and relaxing activities
at our centre.
You can find more information of our activities here.
Our day care club takes place every Thursday between 11am - 3pm with
refreshments, information and advice, health and well-being activities, lunch and a warm welcome
for new and current members.
We wish to inform older people in need of assistant of the various care and support services
that are available to them with the Golden Oldies.
OUR SERVICES
We know how important the right information and support is which is why we focus on providing services
designed to meet the needs of older people. Sometimes information is not so easy to find for
administrative tasks such as housing benefit applications and healthcare advice on healthy living.
Take a look at some of our current projects and services we provide:
Day Trips
Our day trips are extremely popular and consist of museum, theatre visits and excursions to explore
cultural history and gain access to places of interest across the country. These trips have proved
beneficial to our members and we have seen an improvement of general health and well-being.
Get Active
We know that staying active can be difficult for older people due to resources, time, and age. In any
case, we try to motivate our members to keep fit through a variety of arts and leisure projects such as:
Golden Arts dance workshops
Visual arts shows & displays
Golden Threads fashion & sewing
Gold Diggers gardening club
Goldies cooking & baking club
Golden Steppers walking club
Golden Groovers social events
Healthcare
Healthcare is of the utmost importance to our members and we make sure to provide a range of care
assistance and healthcare services on a regular basis at the centre:
Blood pressure checks
Blood sugar checks
Weight checks
Measurement checks
Keeping fit plans
Healthy eating advice
Advocacy services
We offer one-to-one support and help for our members who may struggle with daily paperwork
tasks such as:
